What motivated you start your business?
Growing up as one of nine children in a household with limited means, luxury was something we rarely experienced. Yet my father taught us the importance of cherishing life's simple pleasures. Whether it was savoring a cup of quality coffee or writing with a special pen, he found joy in the small luxuries we could afford. His appreciation gave me a deep understanding of the value of tangible comforts.

How did you hear about The WMarketplaceWhat an incredible story about your brand’s origin! How long have you been in business? How has it changed since you started?
I launched Onyx + Petal in November 2021, and my business partner stepped away just 3 months after launch. I was also juggling a full-time, demanding career so the business ended up on the backburner for all of 2022. Fortunately, that all changed when I decided to focus on this full-time in 2023. Best decision ever!
Can you identify a moment in your business that was pivotal in your success?
Yes, exceeding my year plan in 2023! I also participated in over 30 events and pop-ups within the year, which was significant for me.
Why did you decide to join The WMarketplace?
I decided to join WMarketplace to build community, grow brand awareness, and to further grow and scale my business.

What has been the most exciting or rewarding part of owning your own business?
Living into my purpose and creating brings me immense joy. I find fulfillment in giving back with clean, quality products and helping others slow down and prioritize self-care through our wellness offerings. The positive feedback we receive about our products is truly heartwarming.
Do you have any advice for other women who are getting started in business?
Do it while you’re afraid! Just get started and keep going. Consistency is key!
