This is a lovely set of 19th Century Japanese Blue and White Arita Barbed Dishes.The plates depict a scholar under a tree taking in the landscape. The inner board consists of flowers and other flora along with alternating geometric patterns. The outer border of the dishes features characters, landscape and houses. The outer border is highlighted with flowers as well. The saucers date to the 19th century and measure approximately 4.75 inches.
There is a hairline crack to the base of one of the dishes. There are no other cracks or nicks. Overall very good condition.
