This piece will make a nice addition to any collector of antique Japanese ceramics. The bulbous body sits on a slightly raised foot and tapers to a long neck that flares slightly at the mouth. It has the distinctive oval shaped, orange-brown area that stretches around the neck. It is beautifully crafted and accentuated by the defined crackling that appears upon close inspection. The vase dates to the 19th century and is a fine example of antique Awaji ware.
The glaze is deteriorated in some areas and it shows definite signs of age. The vase is about 6.25 inches tall and measures approximately 3 inches across the body. There is no damage. The weight noted takes into consideration packaging for safe shipment.
