This 19th Century Famille Verte Chinese Warrior Jar is an excellent example of a Kangxi revival period piece. It features a beautiful famille verte diaper border pattern around the mouth with vivid enamels enclosing an upper border of geometrical designs in iron red and green. The lower border consists of lappets in alternating yellow and orange-red surrounded by green.
The jar has a beautiful crackle glaze decorated with a continuous warrior scene surrounding the vessel with royal warriors on horseback and their footmen yielding flags or swords and shields. See the expressiveness of the figures and the details of the designs to assess the quality of this piece.
The jar has an apocryphal four character Kangxi mark to the base. The foot is in excellent condition with the expected wear. The interior shows definite signs of use. The jar is approximately 8.5 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and has a 5 inch diameter base. The opening is approximately 3.25 inches wide.
