This is a fine example of cloisonne and champleve in one artistic creation. Individual cloisons form clouds on a turquoise background while enamels of various colors, including pink, white, green, brown, yellow and rust red, form the prunus trees and blossoms and the bird perched on a limb, ready for flight. The metal appears to be gilded and only slightly diminished by age. The body of the box is brass adorned with an intricate floral and vine design created by individual wires of vary sizes.
There is pitting as well as other imperfections consistent with age. The foot rim is dented and tarnished as well. The box is approximately 5 inches across and 3 inches tall.
