Created in Partnership with The Startup Squad, TheWMarketplace Is Giving Teen Girls a Platform to Exercise Business Skills and Generate Wealth
(SEATTLE, WA.) June 1, 2022 — TheWMarketplace, in partnership with The Startup Squad, unveiled its teen seller collection today to fuel and support the next generation of women entrepreneurs. A first-of-its-kind collection for the brand, the partnership allows teen girl creators and makers the chance to sharpen their business skills in a real-world environment—and tap the purchasing power of consumers passionate about shopping their values and supporting women entrepreneurs.
“We are thrilled to welcome The Startup Squad Teen Collection to TheWMarketplace!” said Susan Gates, Co-Founder of TheWMarketplace. “This partnership combines a community of young entrepreneurs with our cutting-edge e-commerce platform. Bringing these ambitious and creative girls together into one collection will make it easier for customers to find them and shop for their beautiful products.”
The initial collection features eight girl creators and makers ranging from ages 8 to 16 with almost 100 products highlighted. The collection comes on the heels of a successful Wefunder campaign in which the e-commerce platform raised $1.4M. The platform currently hosts more than 550 women entrepreneurs and is known for providing support and community alongside low fees that ensure profitability for sellers. Now teen girl entrepreneurs will get to partake as well.
“Our recent round of investment will enable us to more effectively promote and highlight female founded businesses, like these incredible young women,” said Kate Isler, Co-Founder of TheWMarketplace said. “We’re thrilled with this partnership and know that when girls are mentored at an early age to see themselves as business owners and leaders that there is nothing that can stop them. They are an important part of our mission in closing the economic gender gap.”
The teen girl sellers are arriving at TheWMarketplace with flourishing businesses in tow, thanks in part to The Startup Squad, which exists to empower girls with an entrepreneurial mindset so they can realize their potential, whatever their passions. The Startup Squad has helped hundreds of girls become more than they can imagine by exploring entrepreneurship at an early age, teaching them basic business skills and helping them learn grit, a growth mindset, how to fail and then start again.
“The Startup Squad was founded to inspire girls to open their first businesses and to empower them with an entrepreneurial mindset,” said Brian Weisfeld, Founder of The Startup Squad and co-author of The Startup Squad book series. “We’re excited to partner with TheWMarketplace to bring these amazing girlpreneurs new customers, awareness and profits.”

Welcome to The Economic Engine for Women. TheWMarketplace is an eCommerce platform that supports women-owned businesses and services providers. In the summer of 2020, seeing the disproportionate effect that the pandemic was having on women, Kate Isler and Susan Gates knew they had to do something. They wanted to create a platform where women could launch, grow or pivot a business, find resources to help them succeed and meet other women entrepreneurs and business owners. A little less than three months later, TheWMarketplace was born. All major online shopping categories are offered and transactions are completed within the platform. Women professional service providers (lawyers, accountants, coaches, fitness instructors) can also list their businesses, providing a unique platform to grow their businesses. Although small in size, TheWMarketplace team is rich in professional experience and committed to creating a community that supports other women and puts more money in their pockets.
